Firefighters salvaged a newlywed bride’s wedding dress Wednesday from a fire that collapsed the roof of an Alps Road home, police said.
Newlyweds Joe and Laura Papile had recently purchased the home and planned to move in within the week, Wayne Police Capt. Laurence Martin said.
A fire broke out Wednesday morning, caving in the roof and attic, Martin said. It will require “extensive work” to repair, he said.
The police arson squad is investigating the fire, Martins aid. The fire isn’t suspicious, but the squad investigates any fires at unoccupied buildings.
The house was under renovation and investigators are examining at equipment stored outside the house that could have sparked the fire, Martin said. No one was injured.
